Wheelie Physical Challenge raises nearly £7,000!

Published on 04/02/2021

Our campaign of a virtual physical challenge was created in December. With the second lockdown in place we wanted to not only raise much needed funds to continue our work, but also provide a physical challenge to all our tennis players who currently can't take part in their great sport.

Whilst the challenge had a focus on our wheelchair players to push either 5km or 2km, raising funds via sponsorship, other versions were modified for our VI, Deaf and LD Players. Also, wheelchair tennis players, were encouraged to challenge family or friends to see if they can make it 2km on a handbike or wheelchair.

Some of our top Paralympic tennis players joined the challenge - opting for a harder 5km as part of their training routines.

DMTT ambassadors also got involved - a special mention for Lewis Fletcher who encouraged deaf players to take part and also Rosie Pybus and Wendy Glasper who arranged a 24 hour "Zoomathon" for visually impaired players.

Thanks to everyone for their support
